GENRES
The homes, buildings, streets and neighbourhoods we live in. And the nature that surrounds them.
I’ve always loved architecture and old buildings, and often think about the stories that those walls have seen.
My favourite is when old heritage buildings have had some creative and adaptive reuse and still “live” and are used, loved and celebrated.  That continuing thread through the years I think is super special.

For business’ and homes, I start with reference photos and some guidance on which features are truly loved, or are key parts of that building’s identity. Where possible I search State Library archives for historical photos and clues to the previous life of the building. This brings a deeper understanding and often some fun surprises to the illustration.

Capturing the unique personality of a loved home brings such joy, many of my custom home illustrations are featured in large format, beautifully framed on a wall inside the home. They make excellent gifts for a family, or beautiful and bespoke gift for someone that lives in their forever home.

The only subject that I illustrate with colour, my floral illustrations are a detailed study in the form and colourful life that surrounds the buildings that we live in.  I like tonal, semi monochromatic palettes, using different shades of colour from the same colour group and focus on the unique detail in the species.
